Caster Ball

First, an image of the tool and ball to be used:

If you haven't guessed by now, this is a sport that relies on both agility and the power.

The object: Get a small spheroid through a 2-meter diameter hole placed vertically 1/2 meter from the ground, thus giving the other team points. Winner by points is determined in a similar manner to golf.

The playing field: A large circle with 4 goals for 4 teams. The goals are positioned at 0, 90, 180, and -90 degrees.

Fouls against other teams: Attacking other players with your stick, harming other players with your discipline of power.

Fouls against the court: When no encompassing walls are present: out of bounds.

Fouls against the ball: Touching the ball with any part of your body. Destroying the ball.

Tool Specs:
A one-handed handle in the middle, a scoop on one end, and a net release/recall mechanism on the other. Each team is allowed one more tool than the size of the team.

The Ball:
At any point in time, up to three fist-sized balls may be in play. The balls can be made out of anything from wood to metal to stone or even diamonds. Having reserves is recomended.

Ok, I know this hasn't really got much in common with it, but I think Quidditch has ruined spell-casting sports for me forever :(
Because that's what I immediately think of when I hear about something similar.

That said, this really isn't very similar save the throwing a ball through a circle/hoop thing, and that's a pretty common trait in sports. I do have a few questions, though. Where do you see this being played? And how are participants allowed to use their discpline of the Power? Any specific court sizes or special line rules or anything? I'm also not clear on the net's usefulness; it's more than possible to just catch a ball in the cesta-style scoop--I'd kinda rather just have one on each end (or just a scoop) if anything if the net isn't used for something particular.

Anyway, I hope this doesnt' sound negative, I'm just kind of tired right now and I can't figure out why...

I didn't really have a specific location when I thought this up.

The power can be used in any way that does not damage either the players or the ball (making a large rock wall in front of your goal, for instance, is allowed, but destroying the ball just before it reaches your goal or knocking back the person with the ball in such a way that they are harmed is not).

For the court diameter: how's 40 meters? There are no special line rules except for out of bounds which does not exist if the court is surrounded by a rock wall.

The net can be used as a distraction, perhaps? Tactical offense. Catching another player in a net isn't harming them. As the net is larger (and flexible thus longer) it can have a farther reach than the scoop.

Great idea, I hadn't thought of Quidditch until Raven mentioned it, and lifting the ball with wind magic into the other goal, is that cheating?

You would think this would take place in a "agile" area as this sounds to be a game of speed and aim. I am almost tempted to say the Jyen nations, but I honestly don't think they would play such a sport.. Maybe Relforsia? They seem the playful type, although I think that would really be up to Tiko for that decision... Best of luck to it, sounds like it would be fun :)

Nice avatar, and I agree that Relforsia would be a good place for it, although some people might play it elsewhere, the majority of the people who play it are in Relforsia or Relforsian?

I was thinking more in Relforsia, making the majority be Relforsian. I agree it should be spread out more, but probably more predominant there.
