tablet computers

Apple iPad
It has no competition and, by basic economics, is a very crappy product at a very high price. Also, it has a lowercase 'i' in front of it. Also, no Flash.

Dell Tablet
Does not yet exist. First Windows TabletOS is going to be crappy and buggy as hell.

HP Tablet
To thin to support USB ports. Also, doesn't exist yet. Also, MSFT TOS.

eMachines Tablet
Slow, small hard-drive space. Also, doesn't exist yet. Also, MSFT TOS.

Gateway Tablet
Doesn't exist yet. Also, MSFT TOS.

Alienware Tablet
Really freaking large, on account of its multiple processors and being thick enough for a 16x CD drive. Also, doesn't exist yet. Also, MSFT TOS.

Other linux/unix-support tablet
Doesn't exist yet.

PROS
Alienware - has fans and possibly a graphics card
all MSFT TOS tablets - SUPPORTS FLASH

I haven't been keeping up on tablet computers over the past few years--in spite of the iPad--because I can't imagine doing much with them (can't game, can't work, can't carry it around comfortably in public without looking and feeling like a douche, etc.) I think it's funny that Apple can throw its hat into a ring that Microsoft tried to start almost a decade ago, and people will eat it up. Anyway, I haven't kept up on Windows Embedded Compact 7, so I was wondering if you were just saying you expect it to be crappy, or if people already know it's crappy. I wouldn't expect it to be crappy, because it isn't Microsoft's first OS for tablet PCs, but I guess it doesn't really matter; normal people shouldn't be using tablet PCs until they can be folded up somehow--I wouldn't take it anywhere unless it fit in my pocket.

I mean, hey, my dad and I own Windows Mobile Phones.

It shouldn't be too far a jump from WMobile to WTablet.

Also, I could have sworn I saw a Windows 7 Tablet. I even have a Win7 Computer that somehow supports being tableted even if it isn't actually a tablet.

Yeah, I think Vista and 7 both come standard with tablet software support; I use it with my Wacom.

I'm waiting for the new Android tablets that they've announced. Fell in love with the OS on my Droid and I probably couldn't make the switch to another OS easily.

Ah, Windows already has a tablet OS? Then I stand corrected. Every odd NT-based OS excluding the first one no-one heres about is actually functional and rather enjoyable. Proof: ME and Vista in comparison to XP and 7. I wonder what they're going to call they're next failure of an NT-base.. Now all they need is hardware for the standard consumer that supports their software.

Anyways, while I haven't actually used Droid, I have heard only good things about it and look forward to a Droid tablet. Does it support flash?

EDIT after looking down a search on Dell's website for "tablet pc"
We need Tablet PCs that don't cost as much as a desktop.
